What is paintball?
Paintball is one of the most exciting action sports. The purpose of the game is to hit your opponent with a paint-filled ball which is shot from a special gun (called marker). If your opponent is shot, he/she will have to leave the playing area until the next game starts (maximum 15 minutes later).
Your group will be divided into two teams that will compete each other in different game types. Paintball is often played as a teambuilding activity for companies, on birthday parties and stag nights, or just as an activity with your friends or family.
You will be given a special paintball mask, a paintball gun and a clean coverall.
Our marshals will give you a clear safety briefing before the game starts, and will make sure that all the safety rules are respected during the game.

A common misunderstanding about paintball is that it is an aggressive sport, only practiced by weapon freaks and tuned up young men. Nothing is further from the truth: paintball is a tactical game, for which you need a certain level of stamina and insight.
It is playable by men and women of all ages; there is no bodily contact whatsoever.
That paintball exceeds the level of “playing war” is proven by the many international tournaments that are organized worldwide.

The first paintballs were invented by the Nelson Paint Company in the seventies, they were used to mark trees and cattle from a distance.
In 1981 these weapons and balls were used for the first time by a group of friends for the first paintball game of “Capture the flag” ever. The tension during the game and the accompanying adrenaline rush convinced them that they had found something spectacular. When during the eighties other companies started manufacturing paintball weapons (for example PMI), the press started to cover the action and more and more enthusiasts started to play. At this point paintball started its huge increase that is still continued today.

Technical improvements have been made ever since: the first weapons used CO2 gas cartridges. These allowed one to fire 10 shots and one had to reload after each shot. Quickly afterwards semi automatic weapons started dominating the market, and bigger CO2 tanks were used; with these you could fire up to 400 shots. After CO2, compressed air became more or less the standard, as it is more reliable and shooting with it is more accurate.

Nowadays paintball is played all over the world by millions of players. Paintball competitions in the USA are broadcasted on television like football matches here in Europe; there are even professional players who make a living playing paintball!

Paintball Gent chooses to only use high quality paintball equipment.
Before beginning your session you will receive a freshly washed coverall. We offer you the best rental equipment available these days: Our well maintained semi-automatic markers are Tippmann 98 Customs and are working on compressed air (this is much better than the unstable and in fact aged CO2 that is still in use in many other paintball sites). We use comfortable V-force masks to protect your eyes and face.
Because fogging of the lenses of paintball masks is a big problem we use special products to keep condense from blocking your sight.
Paintball Gent does not use second-class paintballs in different colors. The balls you will use are top quality paintballs produced by Draxxus (these paintballs are 100 % biodegradable, non-toxic and washable).

Paintball Gent is open 7 days a week (including public holidays), but only by reservation.
How to make a reservation?

You can make a reservation at Paintball Gent with a group of minimum16 persons (because of the size of the terrain, we advise you to bring more people). We always reserve the terrain for your group alone. This means that you will only play with your friends, colleagues or family. This will greatly add to the fun and the good atmosphere.

A session lasts for about 3 hours, and there are three possible sessions a day:
10h00-13h00
14h00-17h00
18h00-21h00

The price is 30 Euro per person. This includes the use of the terrain, a paintball marker, a paintball mask, a clean coverall, all accompaniment, 100 paintballs and a B.A. insurance.
Extra ammunition costs 7.5 Euro per 100 paintballs (this is the cheapest price in all of Belgium as far as we know).

We ask for an advance of 15 Euro per person. This amount has to be payed into our bank account three weeks before the session (this term is debatable in some circumstances). The whole advance has to be transferred to our account in one sum, not for every person separately. (Please contact us before making the transfer)
Paid advances are never refunded.

Warning: The minimum age to play paintball is 14 years old!

Discounts for bigger groups: 25 + 1 free: If you come with a group of 26 people, one of you can play for free (the one who made the reservation, the birthday boy or girl, …).
With groups of 35 persons or more everybody gets 150 paintballs to start and a free drink after the game.
These discounts are not combinable.

Apart from hundreds of schools, sport clubs, youth movements, etc, we’ve been able to add a huge amount of companies to our long list of happy customers.

The fact that paintball is played as a teambuilding event for companies shouldn’t surprise at all: there are not many activities where the participants go through the same exhilarating experience as they do with paintball.
As in the professional environment, teamwork and communication are the most important factors that will make the difference between winning or losing.
Take a look at the companies that visited us for their teambuilding sessions.
Also many special events became a success on our terrain (The launch of the “Hitman” DVD in the Benelux, the launch of the “28 Weeks Later” movie in cooperation with Studio Brussels, Recordings of the TMF gameshow GUNK, KBC Classical music “Gouden Vleugels”, …).

*What to bring?
Please bring your identity card for registration. We advise you to bring sound shoes and spare clothes. Bringing thin gloves and a baseball cap is advisable but not obligatory).
Paying with Visa etc is not possible on our terrain, so you’ll need to bring cash money.

*Is paintball a dangerous sport?
Paintball is not a dangerous sport, as long the safety rules are being followed. These rules are explained clearly at the beginning of the session.

*Does it hurt when you get shot with a paintball?
You will feel a short sting, but after a few seconds that feeling is gone.

*Is paintball a problem for people wearing glasses?
Most glasses can be worn without any problem underneath the mask. If you also wear contact lenses, it will of course be easier to wear those.

*Is the paint from a paintball washable?
Paintballs aren’t filled with real paint; it’s a gelatin ball (gelatin is used as an ingredient in many foods) filled with water and food-colorants. Paintballs are non toxic and 100% biodegradable. The paint stains will normally disappear from common textiles after just one machine-wash.

*How long do I have to wait before I can play again after I have been shot?
Once you’ve been hit by a paintball, you will have to leave the terrain until the next game starts. A game usually lasts for 15 minutes maximum, so you’ll never have to wait for a long time before you can play again.

*What is the minimum/maximum age to play paintball?
The minimum age to play at our terrain is 14 years old, there is no maximum age. Our oldest customer so far was 75 years old and he was wildly enthusiastic.

*Why choose for indoor paintball instead of outdoor?
Playing indoor has many advantages: Firstly, you are not dependant on the weather (rain, snow, …). Also in summer, it is better to play indoor in a cool hall instead of outside in the heat. Paintballs are easily blown off course when there is a lot of wind, so hitting someone is really difficult.
In the evening we illuminate our terrain; while outdoor this is most of the time not possible. This important because playing paintball in complete darkness is absolutely no fun!
Another issue is that outdoor the games usually last very long, so if you get shot in the beginning of the game; you might have to wait for 40 minutes before the next game will start.
When playing indoor, games are a lot shorter (and thus is the waiting time shorter) and a lot more exciting!

*Is there a possibility to have a drink or eat something?
We have a cafeteria at our terrain, which is open during the break and after the game. We have snacks (crisps and chocolate, etc…) and drinks, but do not offer any meals.
Our location is really close to the center of the city, where the possibilities to have a drink or a meal are unlimited.

*Is it possible to bring my own paintball marker or paintballs?
Bringing your own gun is not allowed. It is more fun if everyone uses the same weapon, also a paintball marker has to be adjusted using a paintball radar to be able to play safely (this to measure the outgoing speed of a paintball when it leaves the barrel).
If you bring your own weapon we cannot control this, therefore we cannot guarantee the other players’ safety.
Bringing your own paintballs is similar to bringing your own bottle of wine to a restaurant: strictly forbidden.

*Is it a good idea to drink a few beers before the session to gain some courage?
Playing paintball under the influence of alcohol is a really bad idea, this for your own and the other players’ safety. Therefore you will be refused entry if you arrive under the influence of alcohol.

*Can I make money by playing paintball?
In the U.S.A. Oliver Lang, a famous player, received 150.000 US Dollar for a three year lasting contract with a paintball manufacturer. Maybe you will become his successor after lots of training?

*How can I see the difference between both teams?
Each team will get a coverall and mask in a different color, so you’ll be able to see the difference easily.

*How far can you shoot with a paintball marker?
A paintball will get about 50 meters far, if you aim for something that is further away, you will have to take the gravity into account and aim a little higher.

*Which game types will be played?
We offer a great variety of game types; including “Capture the flag”, “Protect the president”, “Team deathmatch”, “Defender”, ….
How many games you will play is dependant on the size of the team and the way the games are played (attacking/defending/…).
